Review : Adobe Reader for Android

This is my first ever review post in my blog. Today I am going to review Adobe© reader for Android. Till the time when I purchased my mobile, the only thing that was bugging me was the unavailability of good and of course free document reader for Android. I tried many free PDF readers in the market, but none of them was good and failed to do the required stuffs. But trial versions of some non-free PDF readers like Beam reader and Replico reader are comparatively fast. Sometimes I have even thought of converting PDF to epub format and getting it read by many free non-DRM epub readers like Aldiko and Word player. But nothing is fruitful.

Adobe© reader:

Now Adobe© Reader for Android has been released and I am going to compare it with Document to go (DTG). First thing which made me upset in Adobe© Reader is, you can’t actually open a file from the main UI. Alternatively you should use a file manager like Astro, in my case to open a PDF file. Adobe© Reader is very slow on opening PDF’s compared to DTG. But after opening a PDF each page rendering is very fast in Adobe than DTG. Even text mode is very smooth and clear with Adobe. These are the only good things about Adobe© Reader.

Pros:

1. Page rendering is fast compared to any other PDF viewer, at least in my device.

2. Scrolling is smooth

3. Text view mode is very clear and crisp

4. Image rendering is also good

5. Multi-touch gestures, like pinch-and-zoom, as well as double-tap-zoom, flick-scrolling and panning

Cons:

1. No Open file concept in Adobe© Reader.

2. No go to page option in Adobe© Reader.

3. Bookmarks option is unavailable in Adobe© Reader.

4. Search option is not available in Adobe© Reader.

5. Send via email option is not there in Adobe© Reader.

As you can see there are more issues than advantages. Since it’s the first version, you can expect more functionality in upcoming versions. Any way Adobe© Reader for Android is worth a try.

To dowload use barcode scanner:

Update: Adobe Air SDK pre release is available now.

Fragrance

I have been in almost five different places in tamil nadu during my school days, because my dad will get a transfer every 3 years. So I'd the pleasure of being in entirely different places at different time lines. I used to remember the good old days in those places I lived. But that is intentional. Some times some fragrances make me remember those days. This is what i called strange. Today I used the sandal powder in the morning, suddenly the sandal fragrance made me remember my days in Tirunelveli. I was wondering how suddenly this happened. Then i realized that in my house my parents were using sandal talc in tirunelveli. So practically i was exposed to the fragrance for a long time. That's why the sandal fragrance made me remember about Tirunelveli.

Similarly jack fruit fragrance reminds me of Neyveli, coz in my grandpa's home in Neyveli we had jack fruit trees all around and turmeric fragrance reminds me of Erode. We'd been in erode for a year where there was a turmeric go-down near our house.

Fragrance has a power to make u remember certain things. Certain memories will be stored with fragrance as the key index and can be retrieved any time if you smell this fragrance. Some thing like a hash table. I don't actually know whether i alone have this instinct or every one. I guess every one will be having this. If u have so, please let me know.

Bye until next blog

Rank 2: God Of War

This is the first game I'd played in my PSP. To be honest i really didn't understand the story of this game. But i've played this complete game thrice because of its excellent graphics and game play. The stunts that are played in this game are outstanding. I don't know how Sony's game are extremely excellent in terms of graphics compared to other companies like EA and Ubisoft. I love this game. God of war games are always appreciated by all critics. So the second rank goes to God of War: Chain of olympus

Rank 3. NFS UnderCover

I always admire NFS series of games. EA is really doing a very good job since NFS 5: Porsche Unleashed. I'm playing NFS games for over 5 years. Every time they come up with new storyline and fine graphics and adorable cars, though there are few boring versions like Pro-street. Undercover is also a police thief racing game like most wanted, but this time we are working for the police in undercover. Lot of twists will be there in the story, betrayal and everything. It moves on like a nice Tamil masala movie.
With better graphics and game play the NFS Undercover gets the 3rd rank..

Rank 4: Resistance Retribution

Here comes the fourth rank and it goes to Resistance Retribution..
It is a third person shooter game. the story line is based on the virus infection around the world and our hero's retribution for losing his brother to such virus infection. This kind of story is more familiar to us since the movies like RESIDENT EVIL, I AM LEGEND, DOOM. But the graphics and game play in this game was too good. The engine is made in such a way that it wont give dizziness to your eyes. The game is comparatively tough to beat particularly in boss stages.

Wide range of weapons are also a key factor for the success of this game. IGN has awarded 9.4 out of 10 for this game.

OX[]<>

It has been a year, i bought my Sony PSP. So we can tell officially its first anniversary for my PSP. For N00bZ PSP is Play Station Portable.. I first regretted for buying this PSP, because i was not able to play home-brew games and other home brew stuffs. the reason is Sony had installed a new motherboard disabling the hackers to put the PSP in service and thereby disallowing them to boot with custom firmware. Hackers are always ahead. So instead of longing for the hardware exploit, they instead found a software exploit.
I played nearly 30 games. But only few were really good. I'd like to rank the top 5 of all the games I've played.

5. GTA Vice City Stories:

GTA vice city stories is a psp equivalent for GTA San Andreas. The story line is simple. Our hero is an army cadet, who then turns in to a gangster later. GTA games are always familiar beacause of their "Do anything" game play. I initially never liked this kind of games while i used to play games in PC. But i found something unusual is there in these games playing in PSP. I also had played the latest version of this game GTA Chinatown Wars. But the camera view of the game was not good. So i stopped playing china town wars.

The graphics is not worth mentioning and also the design of the vice city is also not very attractive. But once you have involved in the game you will forget all the other stuffs. So GTA Vice City Stories holds the fifth place in my Top 5 PSP games list 2009.
