Rank 4: Resistance Retribution

Here comes the fourth rank and it goes to Resistance Retribution..
It is a third person shooter game. the story line is based on the virus infection around the world and our hero's retribution for losing his brother to such virus infection. This kind of story is more familiar to us since the movies like RESIDENT EVIL, I AM LEGEND, DOOM. But the graphics and game play in this game was too good. The engine is made in such a way that it wont give dizziness to your eyes. The game is comparatively tough to beat particularly in boss stages.

Wide range of weapons are also a key factor for the success of this game. IGN has awarded 9.4 out of 10 for this game.

OX[]<>

It has been a year, i bought my Sony PSP. So we can tell officially its first anniversary for my PSP. For N00bZ PSP is Play Station Portable.. I first regretted for buying this PSP, because i was not able to play home-brew games and other home brew stuffs. the reason is Sony had installed a new motherboard disabling the hackers to put the PSP in service and thereby disallowing them to boot with custom firmware. Hackers are always ahead. So instead of longing for the hardware exploit, they instead found a software exploit. Anyways "எது நடந்ததோ அது நன்றாகவே நடந்தது".
I played nearly 30 games. But only few were really good. I'd like to rank the top 5 of all the games I've played.

5. GTA Vice City Stories:

GTA vice city stories is a psp equivalent for GTA San Andreas. The story line is simple. Our hero is an army cadet, who then turns in to a gangster later. GTA games are always familiar beacause of their "Do anything" game play. I initially never liked this kind of games while i used to play games in PC. But i found something unusual is there in these games playing in PSP. I also had played the latest version of this game GTA Chinatown Wars. But the camera view of the game was not good. So i stopped playing china town wars.

The graphics is not worth mentioning and also the design of the vice city is also not very attractive. But once you have involved in the game you will forget all the other stuffs. So GTA Vice City Stories holds the fifth place in my Top 5 PSP games list 2009.

Was it predicted Previously?

I took this picture in the Thanjavur big temple's main tower(Gopuram). While we were admiring the Chola's architectural exhibit, one old lady came to us and told us to notice a particular spot in the gopuram. I've marked the spot in red in the above picture. In every other place it has identical sculptures on both sides, but in this place alone it has this "particular man with a hat".
First of all it is very much confusing to see a sculpture like this so we asked the lady for the reason. She told that the cholas predicted that English would come here and rule the land, so only they had done a sculpture like this. But i'm not convinced with this prediction concepts. I think they might have had some trade affairs with foreigners. So as to symbolize their partnership they had made this sculpture. What do you think?

Finally

The word 'finally' means a lot. It represents the satisfaction of completion of a successful event. In C# paradigm, Finally makes a great deal in Exception handling. And it means a lot to me as well.

Finally i got my final presentations successfully completed in company;
Finally I've decided on the bike I'm going to buy some time later;
Finally i got the Internet connection in my home working (Of course after a lot of piggy backs from BSNL);
Finally i found a perfect Operating System for my laptop;
Finally i hacked my PSP to load a custom firmware in it;

And finally i wrote something in my blog after a long time

Indian Elections

I read this article from a mail.. Avery good article.. i wanted to share..

THE INDIAN ELECTIONS-NEW YORK TIMES

NEW YORK TIMES, April 15, 2009

It is truly the greatest show on Earth, an ode to a diverse and democratic ethos, where 700 million + of humanity vote,providing their small part in directing their ancient civilization into the future. It is no less impressive when done in a neighborhood which includes de-stabilizing and violent Pakistan , China , and Burma .

Its challenges are immense, more so probably than anywhere else, particularly in development and fending off terrorism -- but considering
these challenges and its neighbors, it is even more astounding that the most diverse nation on Earth, with hundreds of languages, all religions and cultures, is not only surviving, but thriving.
The nation where Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism were born, which is the second largest Muslim nation on Earth; where Christianity has existed for 2000 years; where the oldest Jewish synagogues and Jewish communities have resided since the Romans burnt their 2nd temple; where the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government in exile reside; where the
Zoroastrians from Persia have thrived since being thrown out of their ancient homeland; where Armenians and Syrians and many others have to come live; where the Paris-based OECD said was the largest economy on Earth 1500 of the last 2000 years, including the 2nd largest only 200 years ago; where 3 Muslim Presidents have been elected, where a Sikh is Prime Minister and the head of the ruling party a Catholic Italian woman, where  the President is also a women, succeeding a Muslim President who as a rocket scientist was a hero in the nation; where a booming economy is lifting 40 million out of poverty each year and is expected to have the majority of its population in the middle class, already equal to the entire US population, by 2025; where its optimism and vibrancy is manifested in its movies, arts, economic growth, and voting, despite all the incredible challenges and hardships; where all the great powers are vying for influence, as it itself finds its place in the world.

Where all of this is happening, is India , and as greater than 1/10 of humanity gets ready to vote, it is an inspiration to all the World.

Hyper-V

The most notorious draw back in Microsoft Vista is the non availability of the backward compatibility for XP applications, even in compatibility mode. But what is the change that Microsoft have made in Windows 7 to solve this issue?. The answer is Hyper-V

So what is Hyper-V?

Hyper-V is a hypervisor based virtualization system for windows new operating systems like Windows server 2008 and Windows 7. The basic architecture of these operating systems will be,

So the Hyper-V layer sits between hardware and HAL and routes the system calls and responses to the various kernels, knowing from which kernel the call came from.For example, if the call has come from linux VSC(Virtualization Service Client) it will route the responses to linux kernel.

The Windows 7 has a default XP VSC installed. It means what, You'll get a XP SP3 free with Win7. I'll not guarentee the same speed when you run apllication in XP natively. But it was a good try for MICROSOFT. The sad thing is not all processors support this hardware level virtualization. You need to check the Hyper-V compatibility for your PC

Intel processors use this tool to check the compatibility: Intel® Processor Identification Utility

For my beloved AMD users:
AMD Virtualization™ Technology and Microsoft® Hyper-V™ System Compatibility Check Utility

My processor supports Hyper-V and yours???

An Unknown Battle

Hello all.... this time I'm here with a very different topic and also should i say that a very interesting topic too.. We all know about the war of browsers where browser application from various companies try to outsmart the other. When we say internet browser the first thing comes in to our mind is Internet Explorer. Ya its true that much domination they have made in the browser battle. The one reason is the Operating system, Windows that has been used by majority of people. So they are almost compelled to used the IE. But for how long they can monopolize the browser business. That's why they are now having a very huge competition from companies like Google, Mozilla, Apple, Opera and so on. But this is not the battle I'm gonna speak about.

PDF files are almost very essential in our day to day life. But do we ever mind what kinda reader we use for reading PDF files. I guess most of the answer s are No. But you may ask is it really mandatory for knowing about the performances of PDF readers. Ya your question is valid and it may not make any difference for us. But for companies and developers whose application relies on high end PDF processing capabilities and PDF search filters, it is very important.

I use Foxit reader for PDF reading since my college days. The reason is slow loading and absence of tabbed interface in Adobe reader. But i was thinking that time that the foxit was yet another PDF reader and it's no way a competitor for Adobe. But now there was a heavy competition for providing PDF IFilter to Microsoft Exchange Hosted Services. The major competitors were Adobe and Foxit and foxit PDF IFilter has been selected by microsoft for its search indexing services.

According to Microsoft Blog,"Foxit 32bit PDF IFilter is more than 4 times faster than the Adobe one.On average, Foxit x64 PDF IFilter is still 5 times faster than the Adobe one. So if PDF indexing is the key to your business, go with Foxit to get a much better performance". Finally my favorite PDF reader had won the Giant Adobe in this battle.

So whats the moral of the story: "You don't need to worry about who's your competition is. But you need to worry only on how you are gonna beat your rival, that's what important".

So try Foxit reader it is very light and I'm sure that you'll really gonna love it.
Bye all! will cya soon ..

PlayStationPortable

I'm always unlucky with the electronic gadgets I buy. For eg., my laptop. I do not want to speak more about my Laptop but when ever if some one comes to me for recommendations on any electronic gadgets, I would really put my effort in giving them good options. But in my case, I will buy something, all in a hurry not even spending half the efforts that i put for others. I'm not going to find reasons for that.

It all started this way, you guys know that I'm a gamin' freak and I'm absolutely proud to be so. But being a so called gamin' freak I'm not able to find a good gaming console to quench my game thirst. So i jumped in search of a gaming console for me.
I started my journey with Sony's Play Station 2, almost 10 year old, Big Daddy of new Era gaming consoles. But at my first look itself i dropped my plan of buying PS2. The reason is obvious, in this technically advancing world PS2 find its place only in few gaming parlours in India. But it is the only console in the world having countless number of game titles for it. I think that's why it is still there in the market. More over it is one of the cheapest gaming consoles in the market. The only thing which it seems to be lagging is online gaming.

This time I kept my eye on the Microsoft's gaming console XBoX. This is easily one of the coolest gaming consoles that I've ever seen, running with IBM's processor and powered with windows Live which has been baptized by them as XBoX Live. Of course as i said PS2 lags the feature of online gaming which is the key feature in XBoX. The new successor of the XBoX family is XBoX 360. More over the so called "Available only in XBoX" games created some notable amount of momentum in XBoX sales.
So i started collecting details on the latest XBoX consoles. As far as i know there are two range of XBoX consoles available in the market one is normal and the other is Elite. I don't know why Microsoft is following this stupid strategy on Product mix like Vista Basic, Home premium blah blah blah... But why i didn't go for buying XBoX is, that the cost. So XBoX is also dropped.

In this time, i heard announcements on Sony's PlayStation 3, which is expected to be a great break through for Sony in this console war. But PS3 failed to do the job it is expected to do. Reasons are heavy pricing and heat generation in the console. But I instead admired the design and technology the PS3 uses like Blu-Ray, Cell processor and NVIDIA reality synthesizer which shells out 1080p HD quality video output. In my point of view most of the games for PS3 are not utilizing the hardware capabilities of PS3. So any way PS3 is out of my vision.

So i kept on searching for the console of my heart. This time its from Japanese gaming giant Nintendo. It was actually Sandy(SanthanaLakshmanan) who intimated me about Nintendo's new gaming console Wii. With its innovative game pad it started hitting home runs in the console battle. But the only void for Wii at that time was the unavailability of games. It is reasonably priced and clear winner for a long time, even now Wii is the largest selling console. I was all set to buy Wii. But one thing striked in my mind, that is I need a TV to play games. For buying the console itself, I need to attend Round table conferences with my Mom and Dad. In this situation where would i go for TV. So i dropped the plan of buying Gaming Consoles playable in TV and I shifted my opinion to Portable consoles.

Finally I planned to buy a PlayStationPortable(PSP). But my ultimate requirement is that I wanted to play pirated games in that(Who wants to shell a 1000 bucks for each game). But this time i didn't do any research, just like that i bought a PSP 3004 for Rs.9490. This is how now I own a gaming console. So soon I'll be sharing my experiences with my PSP and other things...

Why I'm writing

If some one creates a blog, many think that "Oh! this guy wants show his GREatness" and other few think that 'yet another useless blog with stupid writings'. This is usual and normal. Actually thats the human mentality to get rid of his mediocrity. Even i'm not an exception for that. But this reasoning should not continue, at some point of time we should realise the effort and confidence that the blogger kept with us to share his personal experiences and likings. I'm sorry because i really didnot want to start my blog this way. But this was in my mind for a long time so that it had reflected in my first blog.
